BVR Farm represents the fruits of our labors in addition to being the seeding of something new for husband and wife team Elana and Matt. Elana career-transitioned from San Francisco Ballet ballerina to "good, clean, fair" food advocate and has a Master's degree in Food Culture and Communications from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Piemonte, Italy. Matt has cooked at fine dining restaurants in SF for the last decade. His transition to farmer is inspired by both his discovery of the world of seeds and the amazing produce he has worked with throughout his career.
We started BVR Farm in 2015 to satisfy our desire to learn how to grow our own food and to share our bounty and enthusiasm with our Bay Area community. We are a small family farm located in the serene hilly setting of West Sebastopol. We farm gazing at 300 year-old Oak trees and listening to the trickle of a seasonal creek. We value biodiversity and aim to steward our natural resources as regeneratively as possible. We host classes and educational tours to provide our community with a rejuvenating connection to the place and people behind their food and to share our passion for nutritious farming and cooking.
