about us
BVR Farm represents the fruits of our labors in addition to the seeding of something new for husband and wife team Matt and Elana. Elana career-transitioned from San Francisco Ballet ballerina to "good, clean, fair" food advocate and has a Master's degree in Food Culture and Communications from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Piemonte, Italy. Matt has cooked at fine dining restaurants in SF for the last decade. His transition to farmer is inspired by both his discovery of the world of seeds and the amazing produce he has worked with throughout his career.
We started BVR Farm in 2015 to satisfy our desire to learn how to grow our own food and to share our bounty and enthusiasm with our Bay Area community. We are a small family farm located in the serene hilly setting of West Sebastopol. We farm gazing at 300 year-old Oak trees and listening to the trickle of a seasonal creek. We value biodiversity and aim to steward our natural resources as regeneratively as possible. Chef Matt cooks for private events in the Bay Area, North Bay, and Wine Country using the nutrient-dense food we grow as well as local ingredients from other incredible food producers. He creates custom menus for each event based on the type of event, seasonality, and which plants in the garden are inspiring him at the moment.
